THE RYOKAN COLLECTION

One feature for which Kaihourou is renowned is the Kinbyoubu, a traditional tatami room whose fusuma sliding doors are adorned with traditional scenes of seascapes, Japanese matsu pine trees and other nature scenes, beautifully rendered in vivid hues and gold leaf. The art was created by renowned artist Tomikichiro Tokuriki, at a cost of some 100 million yen. The result is a magnificent, even breathtaking space, which is available for dinners with up to 15 guests. Geisha are also available for performances at these events, by reservation.
