THE RYOKAN COLLECTION
THE STORY
Perched high above picturesque Ago Bay, The Hiramatsu Hotels & Resorts Kashikojima commands a view that encompasses the entire expanse of the bay, the little islands and the myriad pretty inlets of the area. This elegant ryokan takes full advantage of the Shima area's scenic beauty, abundant natural gifts and peaceful lifestyle. The concept here is “European Ryokan” – that is, Western-influenced styling, inside and out, with Japanese touches and friendly, premium omotenashi, or traditional Japanese hospitality.
The elegant blend of Japanese and Western influences extend to the modern, simple interior design. High-end prints by renowned international artist Yayoi Kusama, with her distinctive blend of Japanese and Western sensibility, provides the perfect mode for establishing the hotel's hybrid theme. An extensive collection of more traditional images by Kaii Higashiyama provide a nice balance and further deepen the modern Japanese mood.
The rooms all look out over Ago Bay, to the pearl beds that grow world-renowned high-quality products for Mikimoto and other purveyors of fine pearls. Also, referencing the area's long seagoing heritage is a generous sprinkling of interior elements on a maritime theme – ship models, clocks and fishermen's floats. The spa offers Thalasso treatments, which harness the healing properties of seawater to promote physical and spiritual health.
The ryokan is devoted to offering the finest service and attention to every detail to promote the guests' total relaxation.
As you arrive, take a pleasant moment in the lobby or out on the terrace to savor the sweet ocean breezes, with a welcoming drink of the excellent local fruit juice in hand, and ease into the slow and elegant The Hiramatsu Hotels & Resorts Kashikojima pace of life.
