The artist studied the glaze on shards of ancient pottery, and found a white glaze that changes color into pale green when fired in the kiln.
He used a line drawing technique, kegaki, which he had once used to make metal sculptures when he was a student. He combined these two techniques into the design of the large plate.

This unique work received the Asahi Shimbun Encouragement Award at the Yamaguchi Traditional Arts and Crafts Exhibition in 2014.
