The Story

Hiiragiya, located in heart of Kyoto, takes great pride in preserving the tradition and culture of Japan. It offers modern-day amenities, without disregarding the aesthetic considerations of the past. Each designed with its own unique motif, the 30 rooms display quintessential Japanese elegance and sophistication. Some rooms feature lacquered bathrooms and others are fitted with marble or tile.

Tokens of the past are represented by works of art, such as painted screens or ink paintings. It really is like stepping back in time.

Banquet room in New Wing Hiiragiya's spacious banquet room has approximately 99 ㎡. An architectural marvel, the pillarless space features three floor-to-ceiling glass walls that look out onto the surrounding garden. The garden’s design represents the natural scenery around Kyoto: its forests, mountains, and rivers, as well as a traditional small tsuboniwa home garden. Equipped with a stage, this large room is well-suited for banquets, receptions, cultural presentations, annual meetings, and many other purposes.
Private Bath There are two reservable baths available at Hiiragiya. One reservable bath features stained glass by Sanchi Ogawa and porcelain tiles by Rokubei Kiyomizu VI, notable artisans. A second reservable bath has lacquered walls and ceilings and specially crafted lacquered wood floor tiles. These artistic baths soothe guests after exploring Kyoto's abundant sights.
Library A calm, comfortable library room to read, relax, and browse in, with wisteria branches on view through the window. Notice the panes of cut glass, the coffered wood ceiling, and the stained glass at the windows. Such features reflect the newest design trends in late 19th-century Japan. This inviting room retains the sense of that time.
