A powerfully dynamic piece of calligraphy hangs above the café and bar space, the creation of artist Reiko Kawabe. It depicts the characters 日ノ山, loosely Mountain of the Sun, a reference nearby Higashiyama, where the 7th-century emperor Tenji is enshrined.
