There are plenty of things to do on and near Kashikojima Island. Just down the street is a GPA-standard golf course - the Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club, where the LPGA's “Mizuno Classic-Ise-Shima” tournament was held from 2006-2014.
Cruises around the picturesque islands and inlets are popular among visitors. Some of the boats stop at the famous pearl beds in Ago Bay and surrounding waters.
The local beaches attract scads of bathers in summer, and cycling tours and hiking in the pretty hills of the Shima area tempt energetic visitors year-round.
Also nearby is the Shima Marineland aquarium, as well as Shima Spain Mura, a theme park with Spanish rides and other attractions.
Further afield, an hour or so by car, is the famous Ise Jingu shrine, Shinto's holiest and most important site, and the spiritual home of the Japanese people.
